Career Start provides students with mental, physical, and/or learning disabilities an education that fits their needs and accommodates their specific educational requirements. Students spend time each week during the school year at ReSOURCE in vocational, hands-on training. The emphasis in Career Start is on establishing workplace routines, learning to make decisions and keep commitments and to give and receive feedback while handling multiple tasks and completing real work assignments. Many earn academic credit and all gain valuable real world experience in a work setting.
This year’s class of 9 students came from 5 different high schools and worked in 6 departments within ReSOURCE. ReSOURCE congratulates the Career Start class of 2011! Students pictured are: Justin, Alex, Lee, Mark, Joanna, Corey, LeeAnn, Almir and Heather.
A special thank you to the participating high schools and their dedicated staff who help make Career Start possible: Milton High School, Champlain Valley Union High School, Burlington High School, Harwood Union High School and Colchester High School.
